Okay so I'm going to be writing my first negative review, which is worrying as you can receive mixed views about a bad review - especially if you're slagging off someone else's favourite product, but everybody has their own opinion (which is what makes beauty blogging interesting!)
I recently bought the Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polish as I wanted a dark red colour for my nails as I think it looks nice with my pale skin. I decided on the shade 'Rapid Ruby' and the colour is absolutely gorgeous. I also liked the flat brush, as it makes it easy to paint your nails in three sweeps without getting any on your skin. However, there is a downside to it - quite a few actually!
It claims to take '60 Seconds' to dry, but it seemed to take a good few hours until I could go about my day without smudging or leaving prints on my nails. However, it still stayed quite tacky even though I'd only applied two thin coats (it was also a bit tacky the next day!) As a consequence, it started to chip and eventually peeled off all in one go, which is a sign of a bad nail polish. When I was in the shower, it started to come away from my nail (which annoyed me as I'd only painted them the day before - I was going out that night!)
So not only did it last a day or two (at the most) on my nails, it took forever to dry and still remained tacky. I'm usually a fan of Rimmel products, but I think I'll give this one a miss in the future.
What's your favourite brand of nail polish?
Thanks for reading!
I know what you mean! I tried out one of these as well and I must agree their color selection is beautiful but it doesn't live up to the 60 second drying time hype. That being said one of my friends absolutely adores the line so it's truly a matter of preference. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah exactly! Thanks for the comment :-) x
DeleteOh nooo I hate it when they peel off! So disappointing. I remember when the '60 seconds' range came out and I tried a purple one which did the same thing so I've not bothered with them since.

I know, especially when it's taken you agessss to do them! Yeah, one bad experience can put you off the whole range! x
DeleteI never try anything other then Barry m because it's been what's best for me.
ReplyDeleteI've never tired any other brands of polish because I don't want to buy anything that's going to let me down :) thank you for the review!

Barry M is actually one of my favourites! I've been buying from their range for years! Thanks for the comment x
DeleteIt's so frustrating when a polish takes an absurd amount if time to dry, and even then, not really!
ReplyDeleteI know - the constant worry of smudging it, urgh!
DeleteThanks for stopping by:-) x
The only brand I really love is Essie, every other brand just chips after a day of wearing it x

Oh right I've never tried that! I've heard good things about it though so I'll give it a go xx
DeleteThis is a great post; we love to read people's opinions which isn't always going to be good things but that's completely ok. Yes not a good sign if it started to chip and peeled off all in one go! We've always thought highly of OPI products.
